Coombe

Coombe Farm’s heritage is based on traditional farming and dairying principles. They produce quality food on the farm and using long established skills and specialist knowledge to prepare quality produce for customers. Coombe farm was originally established in Crewkerne by Andrew Henry Warren in 1942, when he was helped to set up the farm by Mr W H Longman of North Cadbury and a partnership was formed. The business prospered, expanding into cheesemaking to create added value for milk and was incorporated as AH Warren (Coombe Farm) Ltd in 1954. Between 1954 and 1980 further farms were purchased. Mr Warren's motivation in each case was to help someone starting in farming and, by working alongside them using his own knowledge and experience, to help them to succeed. It was Mr Warren’s wish that when de died, a trust was to be set up in order that his work of 40 years could continue. The trustees continue to ensure the business is maintained for the benefit of the employees and managed with the same philosophy of taking produce from farm to table.

Vegan - All of these products state they are suitable for vegans on their packaging. They contain no animal products of any kind.

Vegetarian - These products all state that they are vegetarian / vegan on their packaging. Items that are naturally suitable for vegetarians are not included.

Gluten-Free - These products all carry an on-pack claim stating that they are gluten free.

Ethical - To classify as ethical all of these products have had to meet Joshua’s own strict ethical criteria, meaning we consider them to be ethically produced.

Biodynamic - Biodynamic products are those that have been produced using biodynamic methods. More information on biodynamic agriculture .

Local - Local products have all been produced in Devon or within one hour of our store.

Wheat-Free - These products all claim they are wheat free on their packaging

Joshua’s - These products are all either Joshua’s branded, or made by our chef and his team here on site.
